EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) uses behavior analytic methods derived from more than 50 years of research to solve socially significant problems. ABA combines direct observation, data collection and the analysis of the functional relationship between environment and behavior. Empirically validated instructional techniques and methodologies, based upon the principles of ABA, can be used to develop individualized programs to teach communication, play, social and self-help skills.

To date, ABA intervention (including both discrete trial instruction and more naturalistic teaching) is the only type of intervention validated by large scale, long term and peer-reviewed outcome studies (McEachin, J.J., Smith, T., Lovaas, O.I. (1993). These studies provide evidence based documentation of significant and comprehensive improvements in children with autism spectrum disorders.
